How to get involved
We hope you are enjoying looking through James Ravilious’s timeless images of rural community life and north Devon landscapes.
To make sure that we have as much information as possible on all of the images we need your help.
Do you recognise the people in any of the photographs? Do you know the location of the farm, woods or doctors’ waiting rooms? Do you remember James being at a particular event? If so we want to hear from you. Please your comments and thoughts. Help us to expand the details of the Beaford Archive for generations to come.
Giving the Archive back to north Devon communities
The village of Dolton has been used as a case study in 'Dolton as seen by James Ravilious' (download your free PDF copy), but there are many villages, towns and communities that are featured in a wealth of photographs. For example, Chulmleigh, Winkleigh and Torrington.
Using the searchable images on this website we want to encourage the communities of north Devon to develop their own photography trails. If you are interested in doing this please with your proposal and ideas. All of James's images on this site are the property of Beaford Arts, but we are happy to offer free licensing of images to not-for-profit groups for this purpose.
