Since co-founding the hugely influential Jazz Warriors with Courtney Pine in 1985, Cleveland has been a leading player in the UK jazz and new music scene for over twenty years. His partners have ranged from The Who to Mercury Prize winner Talvin Singh via Goldie, Bjork, and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

His new project “Vocal Suite” uses his voice in a brand new way. Blending harmonies, percussion and basslines – all made by his voice alone - Cleveland employs electronics and looping to make a performance especially for the acoustics of the venue he’s playing.

Cleveland explored the unique sound qualities of our centuries-old stone churches in a live performances previously seen only in concert halls and jazz clubs. Soulful, jazzy, and spiritual – these one-off performances were the highlight of the season.
