The Long Trick: A production by Marietta Kirkbride in association with Bucket Club - West Buckland - 3rd March

Tuesday 17 January 2017 2:11pm

Tristan lives with his teeenage daughter, Kelsey, on a boat moored on the Helford River in Cornwall.   A local legend to some, dismissed as fiction by others, Tristan makes his living by quietly robbing all the nearby second homes.

It’s a way of life that keeps them both afloat. But then a young activist, Gail, moves onto the boat -and her naïve actions and political fervour end up landing the small family in jeopardy.

This is a story about one man’s private protest against gentrification, what happens when ideas go beyond our control, and a father’s relationship with his daughter.

It’s an accessible, moving story about what it means to grow up in rural areas today, and how paternal love can prevail, even in the most challenging circumstances.

Supported by the Bristol Old Vic through the Open Session. Nominated for the Sky Arts Features Fund.
